What a nice ad Apple came up with to launch the new Iphone version. The Iphone 2.0, or the Iphone 3G is everything most of business people have expected.
It surf the web and downloads data twice as fast, for half the price. Moreover, the new Iphone comes in white casing too, which I like more than black. Then, it has 3G as its name sais it, and the cherry on top is that it has GPS incorporated. To bad maps in Romanian are a bit undeveloped. By a bit I mean only european roads show up!
The BIG thing about this new apple is that starting july 11th you can aquire it from Apple stores too, not only AT&T. The next BIG thing is that starting september it will be available across entire America (North continent and South as well), and Europe too. Partly Africa, Asia and Australia.
I can’t wait to get my own, push contacts back and forth, calendar information, do email as I should do on a phone and so on.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Apple still doesn’t have their own stores and geniuses in Romania, but the competition between Istyle and I.R.I.S., the 2 Apple resellers in Romania, has made the price go down. Orange, which has recently announced they will offer Iphones in Romania, has already started selling MBAs for business clients. Orange is offering them at a price equivalent to the EU standard price plus an additional 50 Euros, which is great.
On the other hand, the 2 resellers mentioned above now have promotional offers for macbooks and alike, with prices approximately 10% bigger than EU standard price, compared to 25 to 30% bigger as they were 6 months ago.
There are many web developers which outsource a part of their development process. Copyrighting. They do this simply because they are not good at it, they don’t like it, or because it is easier, cheaper. Yes, sometimes, it is cheaper to outsource copyrighting instead of writing yourself your own copy. This is due to the fact that the design of a website, for example, is more expensive than placing the content into a website, even if that content is highly optimized.
A good start for text writing, before learning optimization techniques and how to write good copy in one domain, should be a place where you can find out how each text types should be written. Such texts could be narrative, reports, analytical, description, review and so on. The website linked above is a very god place to start.

In a previous post I wrote regarding a collection of web 2.0 websites. I was looking in my “coffe” break this morning if there’s some place with a collection of dirty jobs in IT.
I’ve found a mysterious, interesting place with opinions, thoughts, and creative writing about IT, marketing and other domains. Why mysterious? I couldn’t find any info about the one who writes on that website. Only the person who registered the website, but that’s irrelevant.
I came across this website while looking for the keywords I mentioned above in this article. I came across a post entitled “Seven dirtiest IT jobs”. I didn’t even know there’s this job called Legacy systems archaeologist, on-site reboot specialist, interdepartmental peace negotiator and 4 others. Few days ago I was asked by one of my clients, which happens to be a nutritionist, to write some piece of code for his website that will calculate the body mass index of an adult person. To do this, I had to research a bit into this exact issue. So doing this i found BMI Calculator. They have a simple script which calculates in either English or metric system the BMI of one person.
As I have a similar math app, I might release my BMI script too, just as I did with the previous math converter/calculator. Of course, this script is not complex at all, but it can be very useful. I may even release it as an API, so that nutritionists, doctors and alike could easy implement it into their sites, or simply use them in their offices.
Until then, I warmly recommend you the above BMI calculator, which works great.
Quicknote: BMI is used to calculate if the extra weight you have translates itself into future health issues. You may also find the body mass index defined as quetelet index. As I said above that this is not a complex app, I must state also why. Well, BMI is calculated with a simple division, between the weight and the height, weight over the height squared.

How many of you have needed sometimes in the past cash adavances (payday loans). Guilty, guilty, and you madam, guilty. I know there are thousand of companies that offer such services, but these days I stumbled upon the next website that offers cash advance services.
Frankly, their website is not in tip top shape. The header is meaningless to me. Let me tell you why. I simply do not see how with a $ 500 cash advanced I can either build a similar building (as to what they have on their homepage), or either get someone to smile like that. Perhaps it would have been best if you saw there some loads of money into someone hands, and some nice logo for their website.
On the left side of the site, they have that navigation bar which has the “cherry” on top, in the “click here” button which nowadays I only see used by spammers and alike.
What is nice is that they have a good manner to present in words what they can offer you. The content area details their services, and by the time you end the paragraph, you just wanna click ahead and register for $ 500 in advance.
What they could have done better is the forms area, which were nicer if they weren’t spanning across multiple pages. Or at least they should state step 1 out of 5. Like this, when you get to their cash advance form, you do not know how many steps there are. (What if you get paid until you complete the forms.)
The care about privacy, use SSL certificates, ask just a bit of financial information, your contact details, and that’s it. It turned out that they are easy to use. However, I would like such a company’s website to have the user experience a bit enhanced.

Ok, it is almost 7 PM here in Romania, and I am preparing for shutting down electronic equipment in about one hour or so. For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, the Earth’s hour wiki article is very long and has tons of useful information.
The event has been initiated and is promoted by WWF. What is bad about this event is that it is not as popular in Romania, as it is in Australia’s Sydney for example. But I hope we will also get by next year somewhere close to that amount of participation for this event. As of now, only 4 cities in Romania have announced that they participate in this event: Lugoj, Baia Mare, Timisoara and Sighetu Marmatiei (all four located either northern part of the country, or western. We all know that the smartest civilized Romanians are there).
What’s nice is that there aren’t any clouds on the sky, so that I could find something to do, relax etc. Here comes the pizza delivery …

Hmm. A few days ago I realized that Google (The one and only) has given me a Christmas gift in advance. My personal domain received a pagerank 4 at the last update. The odd thing is that I never did any advertising for this website and nothing else related to SEO so that the pagerank increases. As now this website has quite a potential, I have made up my mind and I will start writing in here articles about what I like to do best, which is web development, and my other 2 hobies, photography and djing.
After all, I just created a small website about myself, according to my personal standards, and as it is such a nice pagerank, I shouldn’t waste it. If you’re not here for the first time, the older version looked similar to this one, just that it wasn’t a wordpress blog. It was a simple, static php website. The only changes that were made was to migrate the design to wordpress, I removed the big gridlines beneath the header, and of course, added the sidebar.
I hope you’ll like the articles I will be posting in here.
