Iphone 3G came to Europe.
Yesterday, Apple and it’s European parteners have released the Iphone 3G in some countries. UK’s O2 has the best pricing I could find. For 30 punds per month, you get the Iphone with at most 160 pounds (the 16 Gb version). For a 75 pounds/month contract you get either version, for free. This actually made me thinking about moving to UK (kidding).
In Italy, Vodafone released the Iphone for as low as 50 Euros for a 100 Euros subscription per month, or for as “low” as 569 Euros with no subcription plans. I think Italians aren’t that happy about this.
In spain, Movistar dedicated a cool page for the Iphone (http://www.iphone.movistar.es/). This page blends perfectly with what the Iphone is, what it offers, and I think that the Iphone brand should be presented on the web only like Movistar did it.
They released the 16 Gb model for 500 Euros for a 15 Euros monthly subscription. In my oppinion, a good price for such a small subcription. However, for 25 per month, you can get the 16 Gb model for only 350 Euros.
Hopefully, when it will be released in Romania, it will have some similar pricing.
Japanese should be very happy. They get the 16 Gb model for only $ 320, with a2 year contract. The cherry here is that the price will be paid during those 24 months. You cannot get it cheaper than that.
Next step? All these resellers should launch some decent data subcriptions with good internet speeds and no traffic limitations. Then, everyone will be able to use the Iphone to its full potential.
