Yahoo in 13 images. Priceless!

Tag: Web developmentBogdan @ 9:23 am

So, I decided to post this. I had the pictures made for some time now, but I didn’t think that this article would be useful to anyone out there, until I showed this to a friend of mine. So, basically, this post contains the history of Yahoo! in 13 images. Please feel free to digg, stumble, add to delicious magnolia or post comments. I really want to see what you all think about the evolution of the web, not only Yahoo!’s homepage.

The year 1996

At the dawn of a technology, Yahoo had tons of useful information.

The year 1997

Text is now aligned on center, and some bevel effect is tried on the menu icons.

The year 1998

The Yahoo! pager is launched. Links still look awful

The year 1999

The Yahoo! Games section is launched

The year 2000

Some fieldsets come into the homepage, together with the Shopping section. A small Yahoo! Messenger link appears in the middle of the header. A sidebar is added

The year 2001

Now the header and sidebar take some professional shape

The year 2002

Free E-mail for everyone! And some music in the middle of the page. Is Yahoo! now a music portal?

The year 2003

The first fancy Yahoo! homepage

The year 2004

No big changes

The year 2005

The content boxes get a minor redesign: their headers are now full bars

The year 2006

The only visible difference is in the menu. Yahoo! messenger is now with voice!

The year 2007

Huge changes. Old browsers are banned. I wonder what would happen if Microsoft bought Yahoo! I think the current version, launched in 2007 would only work on IE 8

The year 2008

You all know it
